Progress Made Possible at the Intersection of Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice Strengthens National Dialogue on Community Challenges  

The Mental Health Foundation was proud to support the Institute for Behavioral Healthcare Improvement’s recent Miami conference highlighting best evidence based practices for improving access to behavioral health resources and strengthening communities.

The program was hosted by Miami-Dade Judge Steven Leifman and his colleagues who have earned a national following for their efforts to bring community stakeholders together for better solutions.Much of the program focused on their innovative and relentless approaches.

Other sessions offered perspective on replicable best practices from communities across the country. Participation reflected a broad range of individuals and communities from every part of the U.S. and a range of interests from elected officials to front line health and social workers, public safety leaders, peers and advocates.
